Theme: Loving one another – Bringing people to Christ

Welcome

Thank you for joining us for our online church service this Sunday which is running in parallel with a partial re-opening of our church at ABC under COVID restrictions. We trust that for those of you unable to attend the service at the church, this online service will truly bless you, and that after this virus has passed, you will be able to join us as we resume our normal services and activities. In spite of what is going on at the moment, this is a time for personal growth and getting closer to God, and so our prayer is that you and your family will know Him and His great peace, in all things. This week Clive Bennett, who is one of our members, is leading our worship and study. In our study we will be considering, from Mark 2:1-12 why and how we should go about bringing those we know and love to Jesus to find forgiveness and healing. Clive

15 Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners – of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. 17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Part 9 – Final Instructions

Welcome

Welcome to our midweek worship service. In this week’s sermon we are reach the conclusion of our series, That you should know, based on 1 John. In today’s passage, John warns us clearly to beware of “false news” and “false claims”. Throughout this letter John wants believers everywhere to concentrate on the words of Jesus and the messages from the Apostles who lived alongside Jesus throughout His ministry. John wants us to know the truth. Only if we have surrendered our lives to Jesus and asked for His forgiveness can we be sure that we have eternal life. John says there is no other way. We certainly hope you find this service both challenging and inspiring. Derek

Theme: Weaving and Unweaving – The Return

Welcome

This weekend we continue with our dual approach to morning worship – at church and online. Of course, as you are watching this at home, you know that our online services are continuing as normal. Today’s service will also include communion. This week the title of my sermon will be “Weaving and unweaving – the Return” based on Isaiah 43:18-21. You may possibly remember that when I preached here for the first time, I preached on Isaiah 42:8-9 and, as part of this talk, I gave a prophetic word about weaving and unweaving. In that talk I talked about the need to unpick or unweave certain things, so that new things can replace them as we are directed by God. Today, I feel led to return to this idea especially as this approach will be necessary when we come out of the present restrictions. Simon.

Today: Faith in the Son of God

Welcome

Thank you for joining us for what is an unusual way of “doing” church. We trust that the online service offered here will truly bless you, and that after this virus has passed, you will be able to join us as we resume our normal services and activities. In spite of what is going on at the moment, this is a time for personal growth and getting closer to God, and so our prayer is that you and your family will know Him and His great peace, in all things. This week Clive Bennett, who is one of our members, is leading our worship and study. In our study we will be considering, from 1 John 5: 1-12, what it means for us to know that we know that we know that we have faith in the Son of God and to have real assurance of eternal life. “Therefore, we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal”.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Theme: In His hand

Welcome

This weekend we are re-opening the church for morning worship – albeit with social distancing and restricted numbers of around 30. Of course, as you are watching this at home, you know that our online services are continuing as normal. This week the title of my sermon will be “In His hand” based on John 10:22-31. Just as a shepherd protects his sheep, Jesus protects His people from eternal harm. While believers can expect to suffer whilst on earth, Satan cannot harm their souls or take away their eternal life with God. There are many reasons to be afraid here on earth because this is the devil’s domain. But, if you choose to follow Jesus, He will give you eternal safety and no one can snatch you out of His hands. Today message: God’s love – 1 John 4:7-21

Welcome

Welcome to our midweek worship service. As we continue with our journey through 1 John, Simon moves into chapter 4 as he talks to us about God’s love. Now clearly everyone believes that love is important, but love is usually thought of as a feeling. In reality, love is a choice and an action. God is the source of our love; after all He loved us enough to sacrifice His Son for us. God’s love explains why He created people to love. God’s love explains why He cares even for sinful people. God’s love explains why He has given us to freedom to make choices – even choices that take people away from Him. God’s love explains why Jesus had to die in our place – and all God wants in return is for us to love Him.

Part 6 – Love one another

Welcome

Welcome to our midweek worship service. In this week’s sermon we are simply challenged to “love one another.” Well that sounds pretty simple doesn’t it. In which case why is it an ongoing theme throughout John’s letters. Just maybe, it isn’t as easy as it sounds – especially if we add a few more words – we are to love one another as Jesus loved us. Now that sounds much more difficult – and it is! We certainly hope you find this service both challenging and inspiring. Derek

Theme: Jesus is the Bread of Life

Welcome

Welcome to a rather unusual Harvest service. As you know, at least for the moment, we are still unable to meet together in church but we are really pleased that lots of you were able to contribute to this online service. In this service we will celebrating both the wonder of God’s creation and that Jesus really is the bread of life. The bread of God sent down from heaven to give life to this world. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” In response, just as the disciples did, we say, “Lord Jesus, give us this bread.”
